CALIBRATED iBALL

Application Description:

Calibrated iBall is a projected leveling application, much like a heads up display in a fighter jet, projecting an image onto a surface as seen through the screen.

Features:

  • Plain Level – Standard overlays used for most leveling applications
  • Tilt Level – Rotatable overlays used for dynamic angle measurements
  • Protractor – Semicircular tool for measuring angles
  • Calibration – Adjust for slight variations in iPhone manufacturing
  • Info – Demo screen plus brief instructions for each of the tools listed above

Calibrated iBall uses the camera in conjunction with the accelerometer in your iPhone in a unique new way.  Calibrated iBall goes beyond simple levels available on the app store, replaces your old manual bubble level.  Our app superimposes user selectable overlays on the camera view (see screenshots) allowing you to look through the overlay at the image beyond the camera to see what you want to level.  The overlay floats in the camera viewfinder, always staying level, no matter how much you rotate the iPhone.  You don’t have to hold the iPhone level, you just have to look through the camera and the overlay stays level on its own.

Is that picture on the wall level?  Is the door plumb?  Are the curtains straight?  Do the three pictures you just hung line up with each other?  How about those pictures going up the stairs, are they in line with the stairs or were they hung at a funny angle?  Don't trust your eye, put an end to the argument by purchasing Calibrated iBall.

Don't bother getting out the laser level, you have to hang it on the wall, make sure it's at the right height but not in the way, etc. too much bother.  With Calibrated iBall, hang the picture where you want it, stand back and look through your iPhone’s camera to level the picture.  Piece of cake.

Use the protractor feature to figure out the pitch of your roof.  This can be useful for things as simple as providing it to a roofer or insurance adjuster for an estimate or providing it to an architect when discussing an addition or thinking about adding a skylight.

Check whether the deck you’re installing is pitched correctly away from the house.

Look over a row of hedges you just trimmed to see if it's level and even.

Are the countertops and cabinets level, are the windows and doors plumb?  Are you a Real estate agent, carpenter, landscape professional, home inspector or simply a neat freak.  Do you suffer from OCD requiring everything be symmetrical arranged?  If you answered yes, you need Calibrated iBall.  Get a quick survey of all sorts of things.
